Mr. Swartwood is a part of the firm’s corporate and transactional practice group and practices corporate and business law. Before attending law school, he was an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. He attained the rank of Captain, and in that capacity led Airborne and Ranger organizations for seven years. Mr. Swartwood served in Afghanistan and Iraq and received two Bronze Star Medals for combat service. Mr. Swartwood graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in the top fifth of his class. He ranked second in his class in leadership, and as an officer he was rated in the top 10% of his peers. Throughout his career Mr. Swartwood was consistently chosen for special assignments on the basis of his diligence and professionalism. His unique background and experience has prepared him well for the practice of law. Mr. Swartwood graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law. He created and led the law school’s first Negotiation Competition Program, and he also served as the President of the Business Law Society—an organization whose membership and activities tripled under his leadership. Mr. Swartwood was also the first student chosen to represent the law school at the Association of Corporate Counsel's "Hot Seat Competition.” He was inducted into the Blue Key National Honor Society in 2007. |
