Mrs. Jordan is a member of the Litigation Practice Group at Brock Clay. Her practice includes general civil litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Mrs. Jordan also represents local governments in licensing issues. She is involved in litigation involving the various school districts the firm represents. Mrs. Jordan received her Juris Doctor in May, 1982 from Emory University. She joined the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office where she worked for fifteen years, the last thirteen years of which she specialized in criminal appellate practice. During her tenure as a prosecutor, Mrs. Jordan regularly appeared before the Supreme Court of Georgia, and on occasion, the Georgia Court of Appeals. Mrs. Jordan has authored or co-authored between 300 and 400 appellate briefs and has argued in the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals in more than 60 cases. She has argued several cases of first impression in Georgia before the appellate courts. In 1999, Mrs. Jordan received the Regional Vice President’s Award from the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation. Mrs. Jordan left the district attorney’s office to enter the private practice of law where she continued her appellate practice in criminal and civil law, as well as civil litigation in government matters and criminal defense matters. She has appeared on behalf of Cobb County in certiorari appeals to the superior court and on behalf of Cobb County and Sandy Springs in civil litigation before the Northern District of Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals regarding adult entertainment and licensing issues. Mrs. Jordan has taught at the North Georgia Police Academy, at the Emory Trial Techniques Program, and made various presentations at seminars sponsored by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia; the Local Government Law Section, State Bar of Georgia; the Cobb Bar Association’s Criminal Defense Section and its CLE Program on Appellate Practice. |
