Mr. Brock has represented school districts in Georgia since 1988. His clients range in size from 1,000 to 106,000 students. He has also served as counsel to State School Superintendents, State School Board Chairs, the State Department of Education, and has been appointed as special Assistant Attorney General to assist with state education department matters. He has also helped draft various education related legislation on behalf of school districts. He is approved by the State to provide required training to Georgia School boards and has provided training on a myriad of school related topics around the state. He has been appointed by the Governor to serve on the IE2 steering committee which is currently reviewing how financing to public schools is calculated. Mr. Brock manages the largest education practice in the State and personally oversees client services to the firm’s education clients. His small town Georgia roots show in his personal dedication to relationships, his forthright approach and his unyielding support for his clients. The firm’s business model provides the only full service practice to school districts in Georgia. Mr. Brock’s approach in representing school clients is that they need all the legal expertise that large corporations need, in addition to the education expertise. Mr. Brock serves as much more than an attorney to School Board members and superintendents; he is a counselor, trusted advisor and he understands the practical consequences of decisions as they relate to educators and public officials. His business background also serves superintendents and boards as they decide issues under ever increasing financial pressures.He also leads School Boards through Superintendent Searches and has successfully overseen this process for the current superintendents in four of the ten largest systems in the State. He co-authored Practical and Legal Analysis of Personnel Issues and handled hundreds of performance related hearings on behalf of Georgia school districts. Mr. Brock has been active in the community with state and local bar associations, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, and has served on various boards including Cobb EMC, the YMCA, Eastside Baseball Association, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Shorter College. He is admitted to all Georgia Courts, as well as the federal courts for the N.D. Ga., the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S Supreme Court.
