Mr. Murphy is a member of Brock Clay’s Education Law team.  In 2007, he was a summer law clerk at Brock Clay and interned for Judge Craig L. Schwall, Superior Court of Fulton County.  In 2006, Mr. Murphy served as a summer law clerk for Judge Susan P. Tate, Probate Court of Athens-Clarke County.

Mr. Murphy is a graduate of South Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia.  As an undergraduate at the University of Georgia, he was the recipient of the Foundation Fellowship, which is the University’s premier merit scholarship program.  Mr. Murphy served as President of both the Undergraduate Mock Trial Association and Dean William Tate Honor Society.  He was active in the Student Government Association, serving as a Senator and External Affairs Chair.  Mr. Murphy studied abroad in several countries including England, Hungary, Ireland, and Cuba.  He received his A.B. in History and Political Science Cum Laude with High Honors.

While a student at the University of Georgia School of Law, Mr. Murphy served as Secretary and then President of the Student Bar Association.  He also worked as an extern in the Northern Circuit District Attorney’s Office as part of the University’s Prosecutorial Clinic.  He received his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in May, 2008.

Mr. Murphy currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of Georgia.  In the 2004 primary, he was elected to a four-year term on the Clarke County Democratic Committee.  Mr. Murphy also served as the deputy campaign manager in former state Rep. Jane Kidd’s (D-Athens) successful run for the State House in 2004.  He has held offices in both the Young Democrats of UGA/Athens-Clarke County and the Georgia Law Democrats.
