| Kathryn Ams, a member of Brock Clay’s Education Law practice group, assists school districts in responding to a variety of legal, business and regulatory challenges. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ams worked in the Products Liability group at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where her practice focused on pharmaceutical, medical device and health care litigation. During law school, Ms. Ams worked in Georgia State University’s Office of Legal Affairs. She researched a variety of education law issues arising in the context of the First Amendment, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. She also assisted in drafting university policies. Before law school, Ms. Ams was an intern in the Office of First Lady Mary Perdue, where she worked for the First Lady’s “Our Children Campaign,” which focused on Georgia children in foster care. Ms. Ams also participated in the Emory Summer Child Advocacy Program and assisted in the opening of an evening reporting center for delinquent youth. REPRESENTATIVE CLIENT HIGHLIGHTS As a member of Brock Clay’s Education Law team, Ms. Ams advises school district clients on a variety of issues including: - Advising local school boards on various issues including First Amendment concerns.
- Assisting school districts in complying with a recent Georgia Supreme Court opinion regarding garnishment proceedings.
- Litigating disputes relating to special education law.
